You Got Crap... Rummage Sale?

It was a good idea.. I guess.  I managed to "stage" it all in a section of the garage and piled more on the side of the house behind the gates.  I posted on Craigslist, put up the signs.  "Garage Sale 9-1pm".   I got up early and set up the fiasco for the cheapskates to show up.  7AM with coffee in hand and a slight Patron XO hangover from the night before, I started laying out the driveway and unloading the driveway.  Sure as bear shit, the first ones show up at 830am.  And then more and more showed up.  It was interesting watching people come and go.  All walks of life.  At one point a minivan showed up.  The father handed out envelops to each of the children and they proceeded to "shop".  Some of the kids were young, some older.  But each came up to make a deal on the object they found. It was a fun idea.  Most likely taught them the value of money, or an object, etc.  Were they buying to resale at a swap meet later that day or was it just for them...

All in all it was exhausting, but somewhat fun.  You really need two people to run a sale.  Heather was with the kids while I manned the global operations.  At the end of the day we moved out alot of stuff and made around $500.  Some stuff didnt go and eventually made it to the curb marked "Free".   People take the strangest items... but it was one less trip to the dump for me.

The lesson learned here..  why did we have all this crap to begin with.  Yearly "purges" are probably a must with any household..as going forward.. we will with ours.
